Zion Calendar Verse – November 17
Thy mercy O Lord, endureth for ever. Psa 138:6/8
There are many words that we use regularly not really knowing the meaning or the depth of that word.
One such word is Mercy.
The dictionary meaning is “compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm”.
We most of the time take the first fragment and take Mercy to be forgiveness or compassion shown towards us. But, the second fragment gives the actual sense of the first fragment. Mercy is the compassion or forgiveness shown by someone who has the power to punish or HARM.
How true it is? God being in a position to harm us did not harm us. Many times we, not being a position to harm others have harmed them and still continue to do so. What a contradiction!
The other great thing about God’s mercy is that it endureth for ever.
May we refrain from harming others today showing mercy.
