Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Gospel?
Gospel means good news – good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. The Bible says in Acts 4:12 that there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven (other than Jesus Christ) that has been given among men by which we must be saved. 2. What is the meaning of Zion?
Zion is taken from the hebrew word Tsiyown, which means “parched place” or “fortified city”. It was the city of David as recorded in the Old Testament (2 Samuel 5:7), which is also called Jerusalem or Mount Zion. According to New Testament, Zion is referred to as Heaven, the city of God (Hebrews 12:22; Revelation 14:1). Peter refers to Christ as the Cornerstone of Zion (1 Peter 2:6).

3. Why is the church named Zion?
Church is a gathering of God’s people where He promised to be in their midst (Matthew 18:20). Zion is God’s dwelling place or habitation (Psalm 132:13), where we need to give our praises and worship Him (Psalm 9:11; Psalm 99:2).

4. What is the purpose of Communion? Why do you have Communion every week?
The purpose of Communion (also called The Lord’s Table) is threefold – PAST: remember Christ and His sacrifice (1 Corinthians 11:24-25), PRESENT: examine ourselves and set right with God (1 Corinthians 11:28), and FUTURE: expect the second coming of Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:26). The often we partake in Communion, the often we ensure that we adhere to the above threefold aspects. The early church met on Sundays to break bread (Acts 20:7).

5. Why is worship so important?
Worshipping God means attributing to Him for who He is. Jesus said in John 4:23-24, “An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” Our God is seeking true worshippers. Worship is what we will do for eternity. Presently the heavenly hosts are worshipping God day and night; they do not cease to say, “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME.” (Revelation 4:8)
