We are running the Spiritual Marathon

He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. – Isa 40:29

The Marathon is a long-distance race originally instituted because of a Greek Soldier Philippides, who ran from the battle of Marathon to Athens (about 26 miles) to report the victory against Persians. Every year about 800 marathons are conducted worldwide, and participants who are unable to finish the race are because they faint and lose strength due to the long-distance race.

Today it’s a great reminder that we are in a spiritual marathon. We faint and lose our strength because we don’t depend upon God but remember that God is omnipotent (omni – all; potent – powerful), who can give the power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.  As Paul boldly said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race”, let us all focus to finish our race by depending upon God for a renewed strength so that we shall walk but not faint and run but not weary.
