“…the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said…”The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” – Judges 6:12
The kingdom of Israel was caught in the spiral of sin and so, God allowed the Midianites to oppress them. When the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help, the Lord appeared to Gideon and gave him the responsibility to fight against the enemies. Gideon was an average human being, but the presence of the living God with him made all the difference. Gideon led the fight against the Midianites and delivered Israel.
The Bible is filled with examples of God picking up normal people to perform extraordinary tasks for His glory. He transformed:
o Abram to Abraham, father of many nations
o Moses to be the deliverer of Israelites from slavery
o David, a shepherd to be a King
o Saul, a terrorist into an Apostle
o Fishermen to Fishers of men.
What is common among these men is the presence of God empowering them!
